Jump to navigationJump to searchAlso known as Eta Tauri, Alcyone is the brightest member of the Pleiades. It is a type B7IIIe star.
Alcyone is actually a quintuple star system located in the Pleiades cluster. Alcyone A itself is a close binary containing a rapidly rotating blue giant and a smaller bluish main sequence star. Alcyone B, C, and D orbit distantly from Alcyone A.
