The Alpha Centauri system (α Centauri / α Cen); (also known as Rigil Kentaurus, Rigil Kent, or Toliman) is the closest "proper" star system to the Sol system, the capital of the United Commonwealth of Planets.

The AB system has a period of 79.92 years, orbiting with a semimajor axis of 23.60 AUs. The orbit has an eccentricity of 0.516, reaching 35.78 AUs in apastron and coming as close as 11.42 AUs in periastron.
