Cloaking Devices

Cloaking devices are advanced stealth systems which generate a field around a starship that passes all energy around the ship. This field has the effect of rendering the ship invisible to enemy scanners and detection devices. There are several field types used by different species - while the IPA cloaking devices are traceable with certain sensors, Bacterian cloaking devices are completely undetectable. The idea of a cloaking device could also be extended to any object and is not restricted simply to spacecraft.

Popular classes of cloaking devices include the Hemmoian-made AA-17 HerraHuu cloak and the Gigardian- made S-66 Dark Matter cloak.

Strategy

A vessel that cloaks will allow you to go undetected in your activities, and is especially useful for spying on your enemies. A cloaking ship can sneak into enemy territory and attack undefended freighters. If the cloaker has powerful engines, it can tow small capital ships or freighters right off of planets, into space, and then attack and defeat them. After this the ship will recloak, enter into orbit, and grab another ship!
