Fusion Cannons (Hemmoian)

Early Hemmoian starship weapon systems, using built-in fusion plants which emitted highly radioactive rays at enemy targets, heating them until their hulls were breached. The weapons could be overcharged, exponentially increasing power output but running the risk of overload and meltdown. As energy shields became more advanced, fusion cannons became obsolete.

The UOSF HemmoCruiser II was one of the first starships to house a functioning prototype of this weapons system.

This weapon is not to be confused with the modern Fusion Cannons, developed by the Gigerdians, which are based on a different principle.
