Nebulae

A Nebula is a large gas cloud. It is possible that the very earliest version of a proto-star emerges from a nebula. Although often harmless, these areas can be highly charged with electrical power that interferes with certain types of starship sensors.

Types of nebulae include reflection nebulae, emission nebulae, supernova remnants and planetary nebulae, as well as vast star-forming regions and H II regions. Ring nebulae are another type. Nebulae particularly hazardous to starship travel may be classified as "storms".
