Organic Shield System

Organic shielding is used by many highly advanced species, such as the Bacterians, who employ bio-mechanical technologies in their vessels. This type of starship armor is "grown", using genetic engineering and various cloning techniques, to be highly resistant against high-energy discharges or the concussion of explosions, thus protecting the ship it covers. Organic shielding can either be self-sufficient or rely on the ship if the ship itself is organic or bio-mechanic.
