An early class of science vessels used by the United Orcs, the 4490.10s were used as mobile laboratory units. They were in constant rotating motion which created a gravity of 0.4 units inside the command module and the living/laboratory modules had a gravity of 0.7 units. The shield generators and weapons were designed to take out microparticles and/or meteorites that would've damaged the hull.

The design was very robust and some vessels of this type remained in use even after the collapse of the UO.
