Barred spiral galaxy

A barred spiral galaxy is a spiral galaxy with a central bar-shaped structure composed of stars extending from the galactic nucleus. This bar is a key feature distinguishing them from regular spiral galaxies. Approximately two-thirds of all spiral galaxies are thought to be barred spirals.
