Jump to navigationJump to searchIn common starship parlance, a baryon is any particle that cannot reach or exceed the speed of light is known as baryonic matter, or alternatively, bradyonic matter. See also luxon and tachyon.
More specificially, the baryons are a family of strongly interactive subatomic particles including the proton and the neutron (collectively called nucleons), as well as a number of unstable, heavier particles (called hyperons). Atomic structures, that is to say all atoms, are baryonic in nature.
Types of non-baryonic matter include dark matter and exotic extradimensional types of matter such as zeromatter.
