Black Hole class carriers were designed right after the first Aikon MKIIIs were finished. These carriers were designed to bring more attack drones to big fleet battles, as Aikon MKIIIs did not have any attack drone bays and the Aikon MKII design was aging rapidly.

Black Holes aren't very effective in direct engagements against other capital ships. Instead, they rely on their drones, their two plasma torpedo launcher MKIIs, and support ships in their sub-fleet.

Refit versions

In the Lightness War, some Black Hole class carriers were stripped from their drone bays, equipped with a Black Hole Generator, slave-rigged so that they wouldn't require any crew, and then sent to perform a kamikaze strike against a Lightness Fleet.

The design was later upgraded in the Black Hole Mk.II class carrier, with a new FTL drive. Another refit of this hull type is the one-of-a-kind Great Thinker class custom carrier.
