Color charge
From Peace Station Encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to searchThe charge of the strong nuclear force. While electromagnetic charge can be positive or negative, the nuclear force charge can take three values: "red", "green" and "blue" (this has nothing to with optical color). Color charge is transmitted by gluons. Color charge is confined: quantum chromodynamics prevents colored groups of particles, resisting efforts to separate groups with equal red, green and blue charge.
