The Combat Vacuum Suit (CVS) was an armored space suit with servo-assist powered movement features, used by United Orcs Colonial Marines during spacecraft boarding action and operations in hazardous atmospheres.

The CVS consisted of a pressure suit coated with with a suite of servos, electronics and augmentation equipment. It was coated with para-aramid synthetic fibers and reinforced with monofilament polymers, providing protection from radiation and the elements. The interior of the suit housed a life-support system providing for atmospherics recirculation, temperature regulation and insulation, radiation shielding, and bodily waste elimination and storage. The exterior of the suit was bonded to polymer armor plates protecting primary target areas from weapoons fire and shrapnel.

No matter how good an armor is, it's useless if the soldier wearing it during boarding action can't climb ladders, slip through person-sized hatches and maneuver gracefully in microgravity. To this end, unlike typical space suits, the CVS is designed from the start for maximum maneuverability in tight spaces. Maneuvering thrusters further help navigation in zero-G environments.

Components

The CVS is a single-piece unit that is donned via an aperture on the left side, extending from hip to neck. This aperture is protected with a double-sealed molecular bonding strip controlled by a stud on the interior collar of the suit. It includes the following equipment items as built-in devices.

Visor

A heads-up-display with various visual and aural enhancing modes. The visor is a wrap-around piece that can be raised or lowered with a shake of the wearer's head. Operated by staring at certain reticules and blinking, the visor is a standard part of the trooper's combat kit.

Periscope

A periscope is attached over the left audio sensor of the helmet. This thin visual stalk raises to a height of two feet, allowing a trooper to see over the walls of a fortification.

Communicator

A communicator is built into the helmet and the back plate of the suit. It is a high-band communications rig with an effective vertical range of high orbit and a horizontal range of five miles. This communications gear has three channels, each of which can be set on the fly or pre-programmed before a mission.

= Helmet lamp

A Helmet lamp is a powerful flashlight that casts a circle of light 15 feet in radius up to a distance of 120 feet. The helmet lamp has four colored lenses in red, green, blue and amber, for use during different "marking" missions. It also has an ultraviolet bulb that is only visible in the ultraviolet spectrum.

Enviromentally sealed bodysuit

There is no way for gases, liquids or other contaminants to get to a trooper inside the CVS without it being damaged beforehand. This protects trooper from all sorts of attacks except extremely powerful acids and neural disruptors that use these mediums for transmission. Sealed suits also protect a wearer from harmful atmospheres and vacuum. The power suit can also sustain a considerable amount of electrical current and heat/cold levels.

Atmospherics supply

A reserve air supply is built into the chest plate of a power suit. This extends the eight hour supply in the trooper's armor to nine hours before becoming exhausted. With the right equipment it can also be replenished in the field.

Maneuvering thrusters

Maneuvering thrusters for movement in zero-g environments are situated in both a troopers boots and their armor as a collapsing backpack unit. Thrusters use energy and can only carry a trooper for a limited time before needing to be recharged.
