Conn

Formally, the conn of a warship is the collective name for its helm controls: yaw, pitch, and roll.

To conn a ship is to direct it from a position of command. While performing this duty, an officer is said to have the conn.

The term is also used to grant command of a ship from a commanding officer to a subordinate, typically an executive officer.
