DE Canum Venaticorum system

Jump to navigationJump to searchDE Canum Venaticorum is an eclipsing red dwarf/white dwarf binary with a period of 8.7 hours. The two stars are in a tight orbit but not close enough to create a cataclysmic binary. The system is estimated to be between 3.3 to 7.3 billion years of age, with the white dwarf still rather hot but having cooled down to approximately 7500-10000K.
