The former president of the Gigerdi Alliance, Mal Dalleer became the president of the Alliance after President Rubek took his own life during the Battle of Gigerdi Prime.

The second president of the Alliance

Mr. Dalleer was appointed as the vice-president of Rubek's regime after the coup d'etat against the former government. He, however, remained quite neutral towards Rubek's actions during his vice-presidency and thus became a quiet partner for Rubek's actions. When Rubek was killed he became the natural choice for the next president; oddly enough however, there was no referendum held for the election of a new president.

As the new president Mr. Dalleer had the uneasy task of dismantling the older and often unclear power-structure of the now defunct Rubek regime. His first plan was to track down the former commanders and employees of the Section 18 and attempt to create a unity of some sort between the outer-rim colonies (which had supported the rebel faction of the GA military against Rubek) and the inner-rim territories. Many critics would say that he only managed to complete a single task out of the two he had set for himself.

The Section 18 was reorganised to serve the new government and its hidden agendas along with the outer-rim colonies receiving needed reforms for their growth. No-one, however, planned for the outbreak of the Lightness war.

President Dalleer managed to distribute his commanding assets to the complicated network of military joint chiefs of staffs, commanders and subcommanders during the war; thus he diverted his responsibilities elsewhere for the duration of the war. Many would agree that Dalleer was a "good enough" of a president for the alliance during the Lightness War, however it would seem that he didn't manage to live up to his image as the war president who emerged victorious against the Lightness.

The colonial troubles - the rise and fall

After the Lightness War, a small amount of colony worlds located in the outer-rim territories in the human-Gigerdian border started to voice their discontent for the GA's support to their war effort during the Lightness war. The GA government turned a blind eye to the criticism from these colonies and thus unknowingly created the base for the Interplanetary alliance (IPA).

As riots against the GA ensued, President Dalleer ordered very harsh methods to subdue them. Many of his former supporters started to call his plans for keeping the alliance intact as "unsound" and "fascist" quite openly, creating a splinter in the internal power structures of the alliance.

Once the outer-rim colonies broke away they gained support among the Human, Folan, Vemrer and T-race governments among others. This situation resulted into a military campaign known as the Interplanetary alliance war which sealed president Dalleer's reputation as the "bad guy" for the conflict. The war that resulted saw the galactic powers rally themselves under two different groups that fought for over the newly-formed IPA's very existence. President Dalleer is often portrayed as the person responsible for the escalation of the conflict into a galaxy-wide brawl, however it would seem that he is just solely responsible for the start of the conflict - not the outcome.

During the conflict there were rumours of assassination plans aimed towards President Dalleer and were allegedly orchestrated by the powers that had been supporting the IPA. However , no such attempts were made; thus it is safe to state that the biggest personal damage that Dalleer suffered were the loss of his popular support.

After the IPA gained it's independence and negotiated an uneasy peace treaty with the powers of the Inter-stellar alliance (The GA, Hfed, Bacterians) presidential elections were held in the GA. As the candidate for his re-election from the Gigerdian republican party, Dalleer received 5,67 % of the votes and thus lost against Armand Marick, the liberal democrat candidate.

President Dalleer held a press-conference proclaiming his political career "more dead than a bunch of Atrovian mice in a Bacterian freezer" and announced his withdrawal from politics. He left Gigerdi Prime soon after and moved to the colony of Reegavus VII.
