Delta Maelstrom

A large, stormy nebulous region in the Delta Quadrant, measuring a hundred light years across. The Delta Maelstorm is known to contain a number spatial vortexes created by tiny black holes, making it a dangerous region for space travel. Because of this it has served as a refuge for renegade pirates, brigands and outcasts, and is known as a lawless region. However, the zone is rich in many rare materials and so it is of great value to the Hemmoian Federation.
