The EE-9 class defence stations are quite old, but are still used. They were first constructed in the beginning of the Secession War. They have average weaponry but can't really stand against a multi-armada attack. Many of the gigerdian colony worlds have these stations as their primary orbital defence, although the GA military strategic command has decided to decommission these stations and build a new Capital class stations in their place. One of these stations was destroyed during the The Battle of the Gigerdi System.
