The Encyclopedia class colony ship was one of the first colony ships the Gigerdi Federation designed. However, there were only a few of the Encyclopedia class vessels made and they were soon replaced by newer and more advanced designs.
The Encyclopedia class can carry hundreds of thousands of beings in hyper sleep or living freely aboard the vessel. Many of the old Gigerdi Federation colony worlds were estabilished by these starships. They carry everything that is needed to estabilish a viable new colony world, including biosphere domes and terraforming equipment.
The minimum crew could be connected to the Mainframe computer known as Watcher, to monitor the ship while they were in hypersleep or sleeping regulary.
At least one of the Encyclopedia class vessels was destroyed by unknown forces at the planet Moghris 7 200 years ago.
