Evasive maneuvers are a blanket term for a wide range of spacecraft maneuvers designed to evade some type of danger. These may include another starship or other proximity danger, such as an incoming asteroid, or they may be part of space combat, such as evading a missile, often in combination with launching countermeasures.

The type of maneuvers a spacecraft can perform depend largely on the capabilities of the craft's maneuvering jets.

Cover

Although it is much rarer in starship combat, sometimes a ship can hide behind physical or visual cover during a space battle. For example, a starship could hide behind an asteroid or a planet. High-energy phenomenon such as stars and black holes can also be used to mask a starship's energy signature.
