During the Gigerdian-Bacterian war ( Third Bacterian War) Gigerdian planetary bombs dropped into Bacterian colonies and Bacterius itself had components utilizing Gamma Radiation in them. After the war it was discovered that the Bacterians had a physical weakness towards Gamma Radiatian itself and therefore made the Bacterian population ill; the resulting epidemic was known as the Gamma Plague.
