The Gigerdi MkI class light cruiser was one of the first ships of the Gigerdi Federation. They had the revolutionary Hyperspace drive in them enabling travel between systems to take only a couple of weeks, days or months. The ship itself was very comfortable for the crew, having enough space for them to recreate without problems. These ships served from the H'vos conflict to the beginning of the first Gigerdi Civil War. Although these ships were completely outnumbered against the Bacterian ships, the Gigerdi Fighters they carried usually were able to score a victory or two. Over the century of their service they were heavily modified dozens of times and such there is debate as to whether or not all of them can be considered as Gigerdi Mk.Is. Nevertheless the Gigerdi Mk.I is the longest serving ship in the GF and as such has been considered by the Gigerdians as the most successful ship design ever made.
