The Great Cataclysm of Orceron refers to the destruction of planet Orceron by forces of the Ho'kan Empire. It is the first known use of a planet killer weapon in recorded history, resulting in the deaths of billions of sentient beings as well as innumerable exctinctions of species in the Orceronian Hypergenome. The planet remains uninhabitable to this day, having lost a significant percentage of its surface.

Background

At the end of the devastating Hemmo Wars, the remaining forces of the Ho'kan Empire, the rival civilization to the Hemmoian Unity, were forced to flee Orceron. Employing their experimental atomic rocketships, the Ho'kans were able to reach the neighboring planet in the First Star system, a desolate world called Xalan. With grim determination, they re-established their civilization on the surface of this harsh rocky planet and began preparing for a counter-attack.

Preparations

When Orceron effectively ceased to be a V'sma protectorate in 1,3860, leaders of the Ho'kan Empire recognized the time was ripe for a decisive strike.

Detonation & shockwave

At 16.78, the Ho'kan battleship entered the atmosphere of Orceron over the Great Deserts, and drops the Planet Killer Bomb near Moisture Farm 5. A gigantic shockwave begins ripping the planet apart, radiating in all directions from the initial detonating point.

By 16.85, the shockwave had reached Orceron's Southern Hemisphere Operations. The king of the planet escapes the destruction, leaving for Hemmo Academy to rendezvous with the queen.

The thunderstorm over the Capital gets worse and blackouts were experienced throughout the city. At this point, crystal lanes get out of control and traffic in the city turns into chaos.

By 16.92, a quarter of the planet had already been destroyed by the ever growing shockwave.

At 17.10 the Commander of NHO and several other officers, along with the royal family, head for the launching tubes of the Hemmo Academy to escape into orbit.

17.22: Ovaap Resrek pilots the escape ship in Launching Bay 7. The surviving members of the NHO enter the vessel and it is launched. The Queen and some other Hemmo Academy employees get into the escape ship in Launching Bay 6 and launch the ship. The King gets into another escape ship in Launching Bay 6 and launches the ship. Of the three last escaping vessels, only Ovaap's survive. The Queen’s ship crashes inside the launching tube and the King's ship disappears when it tries to jump into inter-stellar space. The King is never found.

17.28: Having reached the northern hemisphere, the shockwave approaches Hemmo Academy, wiping out the Capital City.

At 17.90 the destruction of the planet was complete. The plasma storm had reached all corners of the world, destroying everything in its path.

Aftermath

Once the destruction was complete, all that remained of the once proud Orceronian civilization was a handful of starships that had managed to escape. Most orbital space stations had been decimated by burning ejecta.

In the following days, refugee starships re-estabished communications, gathering into a single fleet. This became known as the Home Fleet. Soon afterwards, the United Orcs government reconvened aboard one of the vessels, issuing emergency resolution 900RS-088 which called for the discovery of a new homeworld. The result was Project NODE, an extensive space exploration initiative that eventually located a new home for the Orceronians - Aldaain.
