The Hephaestan Evaluative Planetary Draft Resolution 597 is a military edict passed by the Hephaestus Executive Council and approved by the parliament. The resolution calls for all new citizens of The Hephaestus Republic to register themselves as eligible for the planetary selective service program.

This means that all citizens fitting the standards and requirements of the planetary draft resolution 597 are required to register themselves for the evaluative draft program. By this resolution the Hephaestan administration hopes to increase the size of the armed forces by creating a small to medium sized reserve. The Hephaestan defence ministry hopes to increase the amount of recruits for the military by 20-30 % with the planetary draft resolution 597. The evaluative program will be in effect for five standard Hephaestan years. Further shortening or lengthening of the evaluative draft will be decided by the executive council along with the parliament.

It is believed that by passing this new draft bill, the Hephaestan administration hopes to guarantee the continuity of its defence in case nearby, small worlds are willing to join it in the near future.
