IPAS Kilby

The IPAS Kilby was a cruiser belonging to the Interplanetary Alliance during the Beta Quadrant Conflict. The Kilby had a very unlucky ending ahead of it when it was selected as the vessel responsible for the escort of a resupply transport, the IPAS Wake Island. What the commanding officers of the Kilby did not know, however, was that the Wake Island had been captured earlier on by GA forces, and it had been reprogrammed to continue its' course towards the meeting point in which the Kilby was supposed to be waiting. On top of that the engines and reactor of the transport had been rigged with powerful explosives, and then sent to rendezvous with the Kilby.

As the Wake Island moved closer to the Kilby, the captain of the Kilby had no idea of the impending doom, and moved closer to the vessel for escort. At that precise moment the Wake Island exploded, and since the Kilby's commanding staff had a silly custom of not having shields raised during a non-combat situation, the resulting explosion damaged the Kilby badly. The ensuing situation saw the speedy emergency evacuation of the Kilby along with its' eventual abandonement.
