Kuiper Belt
From Peace Station Encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to searchThis is sometimes considered as the second asteroid belt of the Sol system. It extends from 30 to 50 AU (15 billion kilometers, or 0,0015 light years), which means that it starts close to Neptune's orbit and reaches further away than Pluto's orbit, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the trans-Neptunian belt. It is the home of shortperiod comets and many icy quasi-planetary bodies, including Pluto, Quaoar, Sedna, Varuna and Eris.
