Temperature: 2500 C
Diameter: 420 million km

A type N star, also known as Y Canum Venaticorum, La Superba is a so-called "carbon giant".

Enormous amounts of sooty carbon dredged up from the core region of this dying star has made its way to its outer layers, absorbing almost all of the light on the blue end of the spectrum, making the star extremely deep red in appearance. The star has also cast off vast amounts of gas and dust, which are illuminated by its deep red glow. It is a very cool star, with a temperature of only 2500 degrees C.

The carbon created in the helium fusion is known as carbon-13, different from the typical carbon-12.
