Major (GA)

The rank of Major is a rank above Captain (GA Ground Forces) and below Lieutenant Colonel in the GA Military. The rank of Major is a ground forces rank, but sometimes Majors can also serve in the fleet.

In the GA Military, the role of a Major is quite often administrative. Sometimes, though, Majors can act as company, battery or troop commanders not excluding the position of a special forces platoon leader. Also, the rank of Major is the last of the ground force ranks that are considered as the "commanding officer" ranks. Promotions from this rank forward are referred to as "flag officer duties".
