Jump to navigationJump to searchA Class XII globular cluster, Palomar 5 is in the process of being ripped apart by the tidal forces of the Milky Way. 60,000 light-years from the galactic center, Palomar 5's members are escaping and leaving tidal streams that span 13,000 light years - a process which may have been happening for several billion years.
