Parsec

A distance scale used in the UCP, a parsec is the distance you'd have to be to see the Earth's distance from Sol as one second of arc (1/360th of a degree), or about 3.26 Earth light years (30 trillion kilometres, or 3.1 x 10¹⁸ cm).

A kiloparsec (kpc) is equal to 1000 parsecs, while a megaparsec (Mpc) is equal to a million (10⁶) parsecs.
