The first stars around 400 000 000 years after the Big Bang.
Population III stars were the first generation of bright and short lived stars in the Universe that formed previous or synchronous with the formation of the Galaxy. Their lifespans were measured in millions of years; by now they have almost all burned out, seeding the Galaxy with materials for Population II stars.
