A type F star also known as Alpha Canis Minoris and Gliese 280 A, Procyon A is the central component of the Procyon system.

Over the next 10 million years, Procyon will grow to 100 times its current diameter and become a red giant. This is because Procyon's hydrogen will have turned into helium.
