Jump to navigationJump to searchOne of the oldest quasars in the Universe, SDSS J1148+5251 is 13 billion light years distant. 13 billion years ago its gigantic central black hole had the mass of three billion stars, 0.3 percent of the galaxy's entire mass. It was also surrounded by a large amount of dust caused by dying stars.
