Subspace laundromat

This relatively bizarre orcish invention was said to "revolutionarize launderette services on distant colony worlds." The idea was to use a long-range subspace teleporter which would transform your dirty clothes into pure energy, teleport them through a subspace relay through interstellar space, and rematerialize them on the other end, where the system was hooked up to a vast series of washing machines on the central laundry world of Detergia. As the washing machines finish processing the laundry, they would then transport them back to the customer, again through subspace transmission. This way, one central laundromat could take care of all the laundry and dry cleaning needs of an entire sector's worth of colony worlds without proper facilities.

However, while some test runs were performed on this system, it never really caught on.
