The Tradesman class light transport/freighter was designed in the year 3295 as a relatively small transport capable of carrying varying types of cargo. The design didn't have anything special and was simply a new freighter type using the most up-to-date technology and capable of operating even with small crews. It was also used during the first Gigerdi Civil War. Its main purpose was to carry thorium and dragonium to space stations and outposts. The design was very old even then, but was used anyway. The Tradesman employed the slow Hyperspace drive as its jump drive and ion engines as its sub-light propulsion. All of these vessels were decommissioned or sold to the Texians at the end of the first civil war.
