Trajanus transports are quite an old design, as they were designed about 70 years ago to be the main population and cargo transports of the UCP. Even while the Trajanus was specifically designed with transporting people in mind, it can be easily modified to carry equipment. These vessels was widely used before the Gorg War. As time went on the importance of the Trajanus grew. In the Gorg War and the Timocracy War, it mostly served as an equipment transport, which carried replicators and reactors for ships, stations and planets that needed them. However in the Lightness War, its main purpose was to evacuate planets, with transportation of equipment becoming a secondary role. The Trajanus also served in the Beta Quadrant Conflict.

Currently the Trajanus is still actively serving as the main population transport of the UCP.
