Tricorders

The Tricorder is a handheld device used for scanning an area, interpreting and displaying data from scans to the user, and recording information from one medium to another. Many races have different variants of tricorders used i.e. medical and engineering duties.

This piece of technology has been discovered by most of the sentient beings of the galaxy, and is used widely almost everywhere.
