UV Ceti A
Spectral class: M5
The low mass red dwarf UV Ceti is a flare star in the UV Ceti system. The star is widely known for its superflares, which can even be more intense than the kind of flares emitted by a typical flare star. These flares have been measured to increase the overall luminosity of the star by as much as 75 times its normal luminosity. When UV Ceti is not emtting flares, it is otherwise a very dim and cool red dwarf.
The star has a similar red dwarf companion, UV Ceti B.
Because of these factors, UV Ceti is highly unlikely to have any habitable worlds around it that we know of. Any world close enough to UV Ceti to be warm enough to have liquid water on its surface would be repeatedly blasted with hard radiation when UV Ceti has its superflares.
