Vice-Admiral (GA)

The rank of Vice-Admiral is a rank above Captain and below Admiral in the GA Military. This rank is the lowest of the so-called "flag officer ranks".

Usually well-performing, decorated Captains of the fleet are promoted to the status of a Vice-Admiral after a certain time of service. The duties of a Vice-Admiral are often administrative, but Vice-Admirals also act as normal fleet vessel commanders - and are authorised to command both a single starship of any size and along with it several Battle Groups. Quite often Vice-Admirals do continue their service aboard starships despite their promotion from regular commanding officers into the flag officer staff, however.
