The Vicious class light corvette, better known by its Gigerdian designation "Detector", was a common sight in the Gorg War. They earned their nickname due to the fact that they were often able to sneak up on Gigerdi Federation ships and then ran off to report back to the rest of the Gorg vessels, such as the Hunter, which then proceeded to intercept and destroy the GF forces.

Primarily scout vessels, the Detectors tended to avoid direct engagements as long as they could and even then concentrated on the smallest capital ships, but were sometimes forced to act as anti-fighter craft.

Sometimes, large groups of Detectors performed fast and deadly hit-and-run attacks against GF outposts, managing to take out entire starbases with minimal losses.

The discovery of the critical weakness in Gorg shields did little to affect the already weak defenses of the Detectors.

After the Gorg War

These vessels are seldom seen today, but some of similar design were observed during the Beta Quadrant conflict and the campaign against the Emissaries, however, they were most likely retrofitted with newer technology.
