One of the first IHSF cargo shuttle types, the Vonoskela class is a highly versatile light freighter. Its modular design allows for endless combinations of various container pods, cargo units and other mission specific equipment to be attached to the primary hull via mounting points. The Vonoskela can also be operated as a tug, connecting to and pulling larger loads.

The name of the class is a tribute to the Vonoskela, an early Hemmoian interplanetary research vessel.

Layout

The internal volume of the main hull contains living areas, including the bridge, crew quarters, a mess hall and a medical bay, while the lower decks comprised of extensive engineering and storage areas.

Computer systems

In-flight systems are governed by the craft's central artificial intelligence computer, which also allows for autonomous operation. Computer functionality is further ensured by a backup mainframe, while a third tier of automation can sustain vital systems in the rare event of a failure in the backup CPU as well.

Communications

The standard communications set up aboard is comprised of a subspace antenna for any interstellar communications and standard EM/LASER transceivers for short-range links.

Weaponry

As a freighter, the Vonoskela is not equipped for combat. However, individual weaponry is part of the basic equipment stored for the crew's use, especially during extravehicular activity in unknown sectors.

Variants

Although originally not designed for FTL travel, some models have been retrofitted with this capacity. Some military and surplus variants are also equipped with custom mounted weaponry.
