The Yamoto Class Light Carrier was incorrectly dubbed as the "Syphoon Mk.II" by many who saw it. The vessel was basically just a captured Syphoon Class Light Carrier from the GA side, that had apparently been part of the garrison fleet of the Hephaestan system. After the first war of Indepedence for the Hephaestan side, the carrier was modified with better weapons, but it still without a doubt was an obsolote design.
After the DHR, and the especially the Riletians started supplying the Hephaestus Republic with better warships and equipment, the Hephaestan forces mothballed their only Carrier of this design. They logically reached the conclusion, that the ship was no longer fit for frontline service, since it was outdated and quite hastily modified in every way.
This starship is not in active service with the Hephaestan forces, nor will there be any more of these constructed, ever. The Yamoto-class remains only as a memory of a desperate field modification with outdated roots and a future in the scrap yards.
