Beam

1. A beam (or a beam cannon/gun) is a generic term used to describe non-laser directed-energy weapons that project some type of particle as opposed to a physical projectile. Examples include the Incinerator Beam, Ripper Beam, Immolator Beam, Slicer Beam, Particle Disruptor and the powerful Planet Killer Beam.
2. A vessel's beam is the width of the vessel at the widest point, or a point alongside the ship at the midpoint of its length.
