The Blueshift class Patrol Corvette was an early Independent Hypersentience starship class, commissioned around the same time as the Constellation class light cruiser.

While the Constellation served the heavier military purposes of the Independent Hypersentience Starfleet, this vessel was designed for the Independent Hypersentience Interplanetary Security Forces organization with border patrol, traffic monitoring and police action in mind. It would not have survived combat with heavily armed enemies but proved more than adequate against lonely pirates, border violators and other offenders the IHIPSF would deal with. At the time of the commissioning, the vessel was considered an exceptionally fast spacecraft taking account its size.

As FTL drives grew exponentially faster however, the drive systems of these cruisers started to prove woefully inadequate. Refits were attempted, but severe limitations were posed by the vessel's power plant, which was not designed to handle the increased energy requirements. The cruisers were eventually phased out of use during the Peace Station Era, to be replaced with faster and more advanced starships.
