The Collector class corvette was designed by the Gigerdi Federation sometime during the year 3302 as a multipurpose corvette. It was designed to be agile yet have enough firepower to fend off enemy corvettes and fighters. It was designed mainly as a border patrol ship as well as as a reconnaissance vessel, but also to be capable of acting as a support ship for larger ships. The design has served for several decades and like many other designs it has also been modified over these years. During the Bacterian conflict the design was modified into a totally new class called the Inorganic class corvette. However, due to the failure of the Inorganic the production of the Collectors was also halted and eventually cancelled. There are, however, several Collectors still in service.
