The Inorganic class corvette was designed to be a fire support vessel for the bigger Gigerdi Federation cruisers during the first conflicts against the Bacterians. Its duty was to intercept Bacterian fighters so that the smaller enemy ships could not harass the bigger cruiser while it was engaging the enemy capital ships. It was designed very hastily by using the designs of the Collector class corvette, to have a ship that would be fast to build yet have sufficient firepower. The result was a disaster since the accommodations of the ship were designed very poorly and the weapons were insufficient right from the start. The vessel's shields were also miscalculated so that a Bacterian cruiser could take an Inorganic down with only two or three shots. Although the ship was very fast, it couldn’t inflict much harm on almost any Bacterian ship type. All the surviving Inorganics were either decommissioned or converted into Collectors.
