Overview

The Former Gorg Collective, as it is sometimes referred to, is a governmental entity formed around the ancient hivemind of the Gorg Collective, which has its origins in the Gamma Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. Almost every aspect of their society remains shrouded in mystery, and there are multiple theories as to what their true motivations are. Today, they have fallen silent, along with the rest of the ancient and enigmatic civilizations of the First One Alliance. Their military might and industrial base is considered immense, but no proof exists either way as to whether or not they are all they say they are. During the Gorg War they used some form of assimilation. This has been these days declared as the Gorg assimilation.

Origins

The Gorg species became an interstellar, space-faring government thousands of years ago, expanding from their homeworld of Brace in the Gamma Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. They found their galaxy full of other governments, much like the younger races after them; among their galactic neighbors were the T-Race, The Great Lightness and the La'Fin, some of which had their origins in other galaxies. The time periods involved between the first contacts between the Gorg and the aforementioned First One governments are unknown, and could range from anything from mere years to hundreds of years.

Age of Conflict

What is known is that at some point, a great war broke out between the Lightness, the Gorg and the La'Fin, and that the Gorg and the La'Fin allied during the course of the war. Unfortunately, the T- Race then joined forces with the forces of the Great Lightness. The details are sketchy; it is not known what the issues involved were, but it is said that the war took a very short time, a mere fourteen days. After the conflict had been settled, an era of peace and prosperity followed.

Healer contact

Years upon years later, the Gorg got involved in a first contact situation with an enigmatic extragalactic species known only as "the Healers." It is said that their hivemind and the various modifications to the original form of their bodies were initially established with Healer technology. They made their previously humanoid bodies into a bizarre fusion of energy-based, organic and mechanical life, and hard-wired their minds to form one greater, united consciousness.

There was another war at this point, with a species so old and distant no-one in our galaxy is familiar with them. Archeologists and historians have also placed the mass exodus of various ancient precursor species, known as the "first of the first", at this time period. Vast numbers of colonized worlds were abandoned as entire civilizations disappeared, leaving their homes and creations behind. Their artifacts are still found on recolonized worlds all over the Galaxy.

La'fin Wars

50 years later, there is another memory of a war in the group consciousness of the Gorg, fought against the La'Fin. It began with the La'Fin attacking the Great Lightness, aided by another nameless government. The conflict soon escalated into a Galaxy-spanning turmoil, involving all the governments of the time, including the T-Race and the Healers. The details, again, are painfully sketchy and unclear to us; but it is known that after 60 days of combat, the nameless species withdrew themselves from the war, and the La'Fin suffered greatly before admitting defeat. This conflict was known as the La'Fin War.

Another age of unrest soon followed. The Second La'Fin War, as it is called, was an extermination campaign, led by the Gorg, the T-Race, the Lightness, and the Healers, along with two other name- less species, that had a simple goal: The total elimination or neutralization of every La'Fin colony and ship. While the genocide was not total, it ensured the La'Fin would not be coming back. The last of the survivors of this holocaust disappeared somewhere beyond the Galactic Rim, driven away from their very galaxy.

Exodus

The time passes again. The Gorg Collective thrives in its home, within the borders of the Milky Way. Until one day, the time has come for another mass exodus, this time of the next generation. The generation the Gorg are part of. Entire sectors are abandoned and vacated in the matter of days. The reason for this peculiar behaviour is not known; it is the theory of some that the elder species, the First Ones, as they are known in literature today, felt it was time to move on, and let the younger species thrive. This, however, goes against their observed behaviour later on.

While the mass of the First One civilizations left our galaxy, they left behind observers. When they detected traces of new civilizations emerging, they signalled their presence to the rest of the Gorg Collective, who from their extra-galactic hiding place deviced a bizarre 'test' of survival for the younger species. They sent fleet upon fleet of heavily armed assault vessels across the Rims of the Galaxy to engage the fleets of the younger governments, but left a critical design flaw in them - Shields that could be bypassed with some research. The conflict that followed is known as the Gorg War among the peoples of the Milky Way today.

Lightness War

The Gorg begun the expansion to the Milky Way Galaxy during the Lightness War. No one noticed that as everyone was too busy fending off the Lightness invasion. After the war they established connection to the younger races and claimed to be the remains of the Gorg Collective. Later on they revealed to be the same Gorg the younger races had engaged before.

After the formation of the Interplanetary Alliance the Gorg gave full support to them and assisted them in the GA-IPA Conflict. After the conflict the First ones established the Intergalactic Alliance with the IPA.

The Gorgs assisted, along with the rest of the first ones, the younger races against the Emissaries.
