Inter-Stellar Security Forces

The Inter-Stellar Security Forces are the military wing of the Inter-Stellar Alliance, comprising several service branches.

Charter and funding

The Security Forces accept recruits from all ISA member states, as well as some states affiliated with the Alliance that are not full members. The force is primarily funded by the Bacterian Empire, although regular contributions are provided by the other founding members, the Gigerdi Alliance and the Hemmoian Federation.

The charter of the ISA gives the Inter-Stellar Council the power and responsibility to take collective action to maintain peace and security within and between member states. All ISA security missions must be authorized by the Council.

The envisioned goal of the ISA was that the Security Forces would act to prevent conflicts between interstellar states and make future wars impossible. Those hopes have not been fully realized. After the various galactic civil wars, the division of the Galaxy into hostile camps made security agreement extremely difficult.

The ISA fleet

The Security Forces maintain a space navy of their own. The military hardware of the Alliance consists of the custom designed Three Suns class Light Cruisers, and the new Helix class Medium Destroyers; the ISA also acts with their member states space fleets, but mainly handles situations with their own ships that combine Hemmoian, Gigerdian and Bacterian technology.

Inter-Stellar Security Troops

The Inter-Stellar Security Troops are the ground operative branch of the Security Forces. Primarily a peacekeeping organization, the Security Troops have also been known to engage in offensive special actions.

ISA Security Troops are sent to various regions where armed conflict has has emerged in order to end hostilities, enforce the terms of peace agreements and to discourage the combatants from resuming hostilities. These forces are provided by member states of the ISA. The majority of training and funding comes from the Bacterian Empire, with the city of Trebia on Bacterius in the Gamma Quadrant housing the primary training facilities.
