Octavianus was designed at the same time as the Trajanus strictly for military troop transport purposes, instead of population or cargo transportation. However, the Octavianus didn't serve as a troop transport very often. The first time the Octavianus was used to deploy troops was during the Timocracy War, when it was used quite a lot to take over several colonies of the Timocracy.

In the Lightness War, the Octavianus class was used to evacuate population or military staff and/or equipment. Many starships of this type were destroyed during this war.

The Octavianus was also used in the Beta Quadrant Conflict to retake IPA colonies that had been captured by the GA, as well as in the attack against the Emissary control world. Currently, the Octavianus is in active service as the main troop transport in the UCP Starfleet.
