An ancient, mythical philosopher on planet Orceron, The SID is a character of great controversy, and to the Galaxy today, represents many different things. Alternatively seen as an ordinary person, a God-like Creator, and an abstract idea, some have argued that The SID may never have even existed.

Writings

The main body of work attributed to the SID is the ancient tome known as The 24 Pyramids, dating back thousands of years into murky Orceronian antiquity. Divided into 24 sections, each referred to as a "pyramid", the book relates many stories of supernatural, mythical and philosophical nature. It is written from a third person point of view, detailing the deeds of the SID and the creation of the Pyramids. Many see these stories as highly allegorical works, laced with hidden meaning, while skeptics are quick to point out many of the stories are completely non-sensical and do not seem to have any meaning at all.

Identity

As mentioned before, the true identity of The Great SID is unknown. While the majority of his supporters seems to view him as nothing more than a mortal, albeit a mortal with genius writing skill and great wisdom, others look up to him and see a holy, god-like inter-galactic superbeing that once set down on a planet called Orceron. Aadmet 283 Ienik, modern sidology expert of the Hemmo Academy, has speculated the SID was an an Ancient Hemmoian, or alternatively a cabal of Ancient Hemmoians who took turns writing The 24 Pyramids.

The SID has also been called the "first of the Great Thinkers," although this connection is probably artificial.

Alternative titles

In Pyramids, several alternative titles are given to the SID, including "the Great Invalid" and "the White Noise Walker." Different religious cults such as the Holy Church of the Holy Sid have also been known to refer to him with different titles, including "Psycho Sid" and "Sid Justice."

Yet another, somewhat superflous title is "The Greatest And Only One Real SID".

Appearances in popular culture and language

The popularity of the SID has remained consistent through the history of Orceronian civilization. In modern times, his ideas often resurface in unexpected places, such as comedy TV series ("The SID Show") and rock albums ("P.L.U.T.S."). In keeping with tradition, the original creators of these works often do not come forward; The SID is instead credited as having released them himself. To keep up this tradition, one member of the v'romo species even had his name changed to "The SID".

The SID is also regularly used in interjections in common Delta Quadrant parlance, including exclamations such as "By SID!" and "What in the name of SID?", and as replacement for expletives "What the SID is going on here?"
