The Shadowjack-class of ships is a joint-venture between starship designers from the Free Republic of Hephaestus and the Riletian Shipyards. The Hephaestan defence forces felt the need to deploy more powerful cruisers into the fleet, and thus an order was placed for the Riletians for several dozens of these. In turn the Hephaestan Executive Council has announced the disassemblement of over a hundred of the older patrol frigates.
The Shadowjack has been designed as a standard cruiser capable of offensive and defensive operations. Some of the Shadowjack-vessels have been fitted with cloaking devices. The Shadowjack-class also seems to have drone bays fitted inside it, but it is doubtable that the Hephaestan forces would use Gigerdian drone fighters - instead it is possible that the FRH has purchased DHR equivalents to the drones instead, such as the Liberator drones, instead.
